Language proficiency modulates listeners' selective attention to a talker's mouth: A conceptual replication of Birulés et al. (2020), Grüter et al. (2023). Outcome recorded: mixed. In this conceptual replication of Birulés et al. (Reference Birulés, Bosch, Pons and Lewkowicz 2020, Experiment 2), we were able to replicate the first main finding of the original study—greater attention to the talker's mouth among L2 versus L1 listeners—albeit only in one of the two videos.
