There has been contradictory follow-up research (e.g. Ballinger & Crocker, 2021, [https://doi.org/10.1037/pspi0000315](https://psycnet.apa.org/doi/10.1037/pspi0000315)), but no direct replication.

Suggested Deviations

Replication in a cross-national setting would be helpful to see whether effect replicate in the US but potentially differ elsewhere (where multiculturalism might be perceived differently, or the diversity discourse less polarised)
